What is the difference between low-frequency speakers used in theaters and professional audio low-fr

Generally speaking, the low-frequency big portable speakers used in the theater and the low-frequency big portable speakers used in the professional audio field look the same. Although they generally have a black shell and two 18-inch low-frequency units, they are very different according to the special needs of each use scene.

Acoustic difference

In terms of acoustic performance, the low frequency output of the cinema low-frequency big portable speaker is lower than that of the usual professional audio low-frequency big portable speaker, because it needs to meet the ultra-low frequency sound effect in the movie. Lower low frequency means to make trade-offs in some other aspects, so it is not the most ideal for professional audio.

As the frequency drops, the travel of the sound cone will increase significantly. This means that the sound cone of a cinema low-frequency big portable loudspeaker will complete its physical journey at a lower power than a professional audio low-frequency big portable loudspeaker. Therefore, in cinema use scenes, a smaller power amplifier is generally used to drive multiple low-frequency big portable speakers to improve performance, instead of pursuing the higher the power, the better.

Extended low-frequency performance generally also requires a larger cabinet, which is not a problem for cinema big portable speakers, because they are usually only transported once and then fixedly installed in a place where the audience cannot see. However, for professional audio, a small box means that it is easier to transport to different event sites or install in a limited space. Because cinema low-frequency big portable speakers are installed behind the screen and curtain, the most important dimension for cinema low-frequency big portable speaker is thickness. Height and width are generally not a problem, so larger cabinets or situations where multiple low-frequency big portable speakers need to be deployed can be solved well.

As for the practicality of functions, there are also considerable differences between cinema low-frequency big and professional audio low-frequency big portable speakers. Since large theaters use a lot of low-frequency big portable speakers, cost control is also crucial.

Because cinema low-frequency big portable speakers generally only need to be fixed once, they will not be equipped with the handles that are common on professional audio low-frequency big portable speakers. And the cinema low-frequency big portable speakers are installed in places that are invisible behind the screen, so there is no need to paint or beautify the appearance. They are usually painted in a uniform black, without a logo, and use uniform, non-reflective black parts to ensure that no light will be reflected through the small holes on the screen during movie screenings.
