How to connect portable bluetooth speakers to your mobile
Whether you’d like to take your portable bluetooth speaker out for a picnic, on vacation or simply fill a room in your house with sound, connecting your mobile to your speaker can be a little tricky. Here’s a quick guide that will run through the steps needed to make sure you won’t have to rely on your smartphone’s speakers anymore:
Go to settings
Tap the Bluetooth option
Turn on Bluetooth
A list of available devices will appear.
If your portable bluetooth speaker is not listed, press the button on your speaker that makes it discoverable – it’s often a button with a Bluetooth symbol on it.
On your mobile select your portable bluetooth speaker (it might be a random product number but should have the speaker’s brand name listed) and that’s it, you’re connected!
After your speaker is paired – the technical term for connecting two Bluetooth devices – you won’t need to go through that set-up again. Just make sure your speaker is on, and your mobile’s Bluetooth is also on.
Most portable bluetooth speaker let you connect a number of devices including laptops and tablets at the same time, so simply follow the above steps to connect them as well.
Please note that some portable bluetooth speakers, especially the newer ones, now come with an NFC feature that makes it even easier to pair. To connect via this method, simply turn on NFC on your smartphone and tap the touch mark on the portable bluetooth speaker.
